It’s safe to say Princess Leia was the breakout super girl in the Star Wars series.  Princess Leia played a huge role in the movies, showing us all the girls can most definitely play a huge role in the war.  The fictional character paved the way for other super girls to follow after the Star Wars series came out.  While Princess Leia is an icon (to say the least), we thought we’d take a look at what we’ve learned from Princess Leia over the years.

You Can Accomplish Anything You Want
In the movie series Leia set some records like becoming the youngest Senator, among other incredible things.  Despite being raised to do things one way, it didn’t stop her from doing what she felt she needed to do to stay true to herself.  She set forth in accomplishing what she wanted to accomplish, often regardless of what others may have thought or told her to do.  Additionally, as she was held as a slave to Jabba during the movie she did her best to believe that there was a way out of the situation.

Princesses Don’t Have to Wear Crowns
Although Princess Leia is well… a princess, she wasn’t prancing around in crowns and dripping in jewels constantly.  Because she was a different kind of a princess, the kind of princess that wasn’t afraid to get her hands dirty and be a part of the fight during a war.  Most all of her outfits throughout the series were pretty simple and easy.  Of course, she had a little more fun with her hair.  Instead of wearing the traditional princess crown we think of, she had fun hair styles she rocked out – probably more functional when you’re busy fighting a war!  Regardless, just because she didn’t wear a crown didn’t mean she wasn’t a princess.  She was a princess, just not your average princess – which is what makes her so unique and…Princess Leia-like.

Princesses can be Tough
We know Princess Leia wasn’t your average princess, especially since she wasn’t afraid to get in the mix during fights.  It’s empowering and fun to see a Princess that isn’t afraid to be one with the guys and show them what she’s got.  Instead of sitting on the sidelines, she showed us what girl power is really all about.

Princess Leia showed us so many amazing lessons of being a super girl throughout the Star Wars series.  It really comes to no surprise that she left a legacy and lasting impression on those that followed the popular series.  No matter which of these ‘lessons’ you resonate with most from Princess Leia, we can’t deny she’s a princess unlike any other we’ve seen grace the big screen.

What do you think makes Princess Leia different and memorable?
