Prom Look With a Flat Iron
Today, we are bringing you a fabulous, simple, and easy to do hair tutorial courtesy of guest blogger Sarah McCormick, who specializes in writing in the hair, skin and beauty genres. Sarah has put together a clear cut, simple style to give you braids, curls, and volume all in one. This is one article you don’t want to miss if you want to look prom fresh and gorgeous. This is also a smart option if you’d rather save the money you will otherwise be spending at a salon for rush service to get hair you might not even end up being completely satisfied with.
From here, we hand the article off to Sarah – and we hope you all enjoy this tutorial!
Hi ladies! Welcome to my tutorial on how to get a beautiful prom look with a flat iron. It’s easy enough that anyone can do it – and it’s also not time consuming at all. Here’s how you can get the look I created.
What You will Need:
- Fine tooth comb
- Bobby pins
- Flat Iron
- Hair decorations such as hair jewels, tiara, studded pins and etc if you desire (optional)
Here’s how to achieve the look I have created in the pictures:
Step 1: Start out with flat, straight, smooth hair.
Step 2: Grasp the hair around the crown of the head as if you were creating a half-up, half-down style. Lift that hair high into the air and backcomb underneath that area, making sure you are careful not to cause any breakage or damage to the hair.
Step 3: Release the hair, smoothing out the top layer with the comb.
Step 4: Beginning with one side of the head, you are going to want to create two small braids on either side of the face. Once the hair is braided, wrap it around the back of the head, securing with bobby pins. Repeat the same for the opposite side of the head.
Step 5: Take your flat iron and add curls and waves to the hair left hanging on the shoulders. You can be dramatic if you’d like, creating tight, springy curls, or you can create a softer look which contains more waves. I went with a medium curl. You can also curl the hair further up the hair shaft for a fuller look, however; I chose to curl the ends of my hair because I think it looks nicer.
Step 6: Spray the hair all over – especially the curls – with a good hairspray with full or mega hold to retain the curls.
Step 7: If you like, add a tiara to feel like a princess, diamond studded bobby pins as accents, hair jewels, or other hair decorations to give your look a fancy feel. Now, you’re ready to hit the dance floor and look your best – and the best part is, you created the style yourself! So much fun, so pretty, and so simple to do.
Thank you very much for checking out my tutorial – I look forward to creating more beautiful tutorials for you soon!
