The Benefits Of Scalp Exfoliation

Healthy, gorgeous hair starts with a healthy scalp. It’s true! So often when we hear and think about hair care we really focus most of our attention on the actual hair strands, but it’s time to change that mindset. When your scalp is unhealthy, it’s nearly impossible to have hair strands that look healthy. Think about it…your hair STARTS at/with your scalp and it’s where the roots of your hair lie. Scalp exfoliation is one of the best ways to achieve a healthy scalp and we thought we would share some of the benefits of scalp exfoliation to help you see why you should add it into your hair care routine.

Increases Circulation
Exfoliating the scalp is incredible at increasing the circulation of the scalp. It’s common for our bodies to become stagnant in a sense, where the blood and circulation is moving as quickly or effortlessly as it really should be. This is why exfoliating the scalp is so wonderful, adding that exfoliation or massaging motion to your scalp is one of the easiest ways to increase the circulation. Getting the blood flowing and moving around is a way to get the INTERNAL area of the scalp to wake up (so to speak) and begin functioning much more efficiently.

Thoroughly Cleanses the Area
Our scalp often becomes built up with product, oil and dirt. Even though you wash your hair on a regular basis, it can be difficult to get a lot of the build-up completely off of your scalp. That build-up, unfortunately, can cause our scalp’s health to become strained. Another benefit of scalp exfoliation is the fact that it’s able to thoroughly cleanse and remove all of that buildup on the scalp in a gentle manner. Keep in mind that our scalp is skin too, and needs to be treated gently, the exfoliation process is strong enough to remove the build up without causing damage to the scalp. Once you’re able to remove the buildup on a consistent basis your scalp is able to breathe and function the way it’s meant to without anything causing a disturbance (which is what buildup often does).

Promotes Hair Growth
We’ve mentioned that in order to achieve healthy, gorgeous hair we need to have a healthy scalp-which is a massive benefit of exfoliating the scalp. Because of the increase of circulation, blood flow and cleansing buildup from the scalp all of these attributes play into achieving healthy hair. Your scalp is functioning the way it’s meant to, which allows your hair to become much stronger and healthier. That being said, when your scalp and hair are stronger and healthier, they’re much more likely to grow. Basically…exfoliating your scalp can help to promote hair growth. We know, who knew it was that easy?!

Of course, scalp exfoliation should be combined with a healthy hair care routine in order to really make the most of your efforts in the exfoliation process.
